Financial Accountant

I am looking to hire a Financial Accountant for our public sector client.

Essential Experience:

-Qualified accountant
-Experience of preparing statutory accounts in conformity with relevant accounting standards.
-Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
-Advanced Excel skills
-High level attention to detail

KEY TASKS AND DELIVERABLES

Financial Accountants (circa 10 interims required). The individuals will be members of the DCMS Clear Line of Sight team and assist in the preparation of the consolidated accounts incorporating 40+ Arms Length Bodies (ALBs). For 2014-15 we are aiming to accelerate the accounts production timetable by 3 and a half months and lay the accounts before Parliament (ie publish) by mid-July. This represents a significant challenge for all involved and requires a motivated and capable team to achieve this.

Work will include:-
- Supporting the ALBs in completing the data collection pack (the means by which all data required is collected) - checking and quality assuring the ALBs data collection packs, to ensure that it is complete, data presented aligns with their own accounts, suitable adjustments have been made to align with accounting policies and that all validations have been passed - assistance with counterparty eliminations including liaison with ALBs to resolve any mismatches - preparing journals - assistance with compilation of various disclosures.
- Working with team members to ensure your deadlines are met (note - there are a number of tight timelines and require working at pace) - various ad hoc tasks Background The Clear Line of Sight Project, also known as the Alignment Project, aims to simplify the way government public expenditure information is presented and published. The project better aligns the measures of government spending used for various purposes, including those used, and voted upon, by Parliament - in particular the departmental Budgets set by Government, the Estimates approved by Parliament, and the Accounts audited by the National Audit Office.
