Our client is a highly respected Blue Chip organisation with interests across both the Public and Private sectors working with industry leaders to deliver solutions and products that are fit for purpose.

The role will be assisting the Financial Reporting Manager with management and financial accounting responsibilities, working within the operational entity and reporting both into the UK CBU and BL GBU structures. The role will have responsibility for ensuring the timely reporting into both Corporate UK and Corporate Headquarters of the monthly Management accounts using the Magnitude reporting tool. Other tasks will include monthly Stock control and reconciliations, VAT returns, Fixed Asset control, reporting on Major project materials and providing detailed analysis, GL data input management, WBS management, completion of cost certificates and other adhoc tasks as required.
Major review of monthly data ensuring timeliness, accuracy and compliance with all month end deadlines and that reporting packages are submitted efficiently and effectively together with the provision of accurate, timely and reliable information of supporting analysis & comments as required.

Key Responsibilities/Tasks of the Financial Accountant:

*Responsible for all aspects of Stock Control.
*Preparation of Material expenditure Analysis on Major Contracts.
*Ensure the accuracy of MACPAC controlled costs in the financial ledgers and contracts.
*Responsible for Fixed Asset Control and reporting.
*Responsible for ensuring the timely reporting of the monthly management accounts using the Magnitude Reporting tool.
*Reconcile and agree all relevant profit and loss and balance sheet accounts and review appropriate suspense accounts. Monitor reconciliations and report anomalies and variances to management.
*Assist and back up the Co-ordination of the maintenance and update of cost structures and chart of values within the project and nominal ledgers.
*Maintain the safe keeping of historical financial data and central filing.
*Preparation of the VAT return ensuring accurate and timely returns.
*Assist in the preparation of CSR and IBP forecast data.
*Assist in the preparation of Cost Certificates, particularly providing material analysis.
*Monthly analysis of data for published accounts and R&D tax credit requirements.
*Prepare reports and adhoc information as requested.

Skills/Experience:

* Drive, commitment & enthusiasm.
* Experience of Financial Accounting and Project Accounting roles within an engineering/manufacturing background.
* Experience of Defence sector accounting and working practices.
* Experience in providing financial analysis in a fast moving technical environment.
* highly proficient in Excel.
* Good working understanding of ERP systems (ideally Oracle or CODA/IBS).
* Good IFRS knowledge.

Qualifications:

* Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent (preferably in a finance, or related discipline).
* Professional accounting Part qualified - Ideally CIMA, ICA or ACCA (Ideally three years accounting experience)
