Finance Manager

Capita's key Utility client is currently recruiting for a Finance Manager on a 3 month contract to be based mostly in Nottinghamshire. You will split your time between two days per week at West Burton Coal Power Station; two days per week at Cottam Power Station; one day per week either in London.

Job Purpose.

To lead the Finance function based at the two coal and one gas fired power stations within Upstream (a business unit within Energy operating generating assets). This involves being part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) of the stations and part of the Finance Leadership Team (FLT) of Upstream Finance. Leadership and management of the operating and capital expenditure financial management process at the stations is the main accountability area and this incorporates day to day leadership and management of the local Thermal Operations Finance Team.

The ideal candidate must have the following:

- Recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) and substantial post qualification experience, 4 years + at a management level
- Knowledge of power plant operations (or large industrial/manufacturing background). A strong understanding on the commercial drivers of businesses and projects
- A proven track record on engaging, motivating and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, including effective conflict management and resolution
- A thorough understanding of financial control and accountability processes, management accounting and financial planning & analysis principles
- Excellent people management and development skills, with previous experience of managing teams
- Self starter, team player and ability to plan and prioritise work and respond to changing priorities to maximise their contribution
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including excellent presentation skills
