My Bristol based public sector client is looking for a Finance Director/Interim Finance/Public Sector Finance Director to cover extended sick absence.

The position is accountable for leading my client's Finance team in managing the financial and accounting policies, systems and processes, tax and regulatory requirements, payroll systems and processes and controls, ongoing management reporting and annual business plan, providing leadership and coaching to the Finance team. In addition, the position is responsible for the agency's financial input to the Department's New Commercial Models project requiring detailed financial modelling and provision of professional advice. The position is a member of the client's Executive Board, will attend the client's Audit Committee and is based in Bristol.

This role will be to:

* Analysis and use of evidence (level 4): takes the initiative in commissioning a wide range of evidence from diverse sources to identify problems and develop effective solutions, while understanding the strengths and weaknesses of different kinds of data.
* Communicating and marketing (level 4): defines key messages and communications which reflect different audiences and persuasively presents sensitive and complex issues at the highest levels.
* Strategic thinking (level 4) - understands and can clearly communicate the overarching aims of own area of responsibility and puts this into wider departmental and business context.
* Leadership (level 4) - Leading teams and relationships and developing capability so that high quality results are achieved.
* Financial and resource management (level 4) - puts resources where they will have the most impact and manages them effectively.
* People management (level 4) - sets clear team objectives and priorities and celebrates and rewards good performance across the team while building the team's capability to match changing delivery needs.

The Finance Director/Interim Finance/Public Sector Finance Director will be responsible for:

*Responsible for the delivery of costs effective and efficient accounting and financial systems, policies and processes that meet the current and future business requirements;
*Prepare the annual report and accounts;
*Oversee the cash management function, including banking relationships;
*Ensure the agency is in compliance with all internal policies and relevant regulations;
*Manage the payroll function ensuring efficient systems, process and controls;
*Oversee the continuous improvement of accounting and financial processes and the development of the team with the goal to achieve best practices;
*Develop and oversee accounting policies and procedures to meet both current and future business models;
*Oversee the external audit, ensuring a prompt response to all requests for information and advice.
