FINANCE BUSINESS PARTNER - PUBLIC SECTOR

THE ROLE

The role-holder will be a person with strong knowledge of large international organisations with multiple product/service/georgraphic business channels and the demands of an organisation that is changing in terms of building a larger proportion of income from commercial trading. The role-holder will help the organisation business leaders focus on cost management, business development, efficiency improvements, investments, service and process quality and provide advice on how to reinvest surpluses in support of its purpose.

DUTIES

- Advise and influence the business customers within the UK, Regions and SBUs on the subject of financial management relevant to the performance of specific areas.
- Provide a service whereby the role holder assumes responsibility for the production of financial budgets and forecasts (with customers - not for them) and tracking of actual monthly performance; variance analysis, investigations and discussing/implementing corrective interventions with and on behalf of customers.
- Work with Planning to ensure compliance with the planning process and help develop standard reports that meet the requirement for KPI reporting and ensure the quality and validity of such reports. Work with customers to ensure that these and special reports can be provided on a "self-service" basis to customers with support and transfer of knowledge.
- To manage monthly variance reports on budgets and to ensure that staff in Regions, Countries and UK are able to run SAP reports on at least a monthly basis and to identify action to manage variances. To co-ordinate the protfolio reporting.
- To act as a conduit for central finance functions taking responsibility for all matters for the assigned programmes and ensuring the consistency of financial and management financial information on:
- Financial Accounting
- Accruals & Journals
- Reconciliations
- Completeness of billing
- Balance sheet review, including any "Legacy" or w-i-p issues
- Tax issues

SKILLS & RQUIREMENTS

- Operating in International and multi cultural organisations
- Building relationships at all levels of the organisation
- What constitutes best practice in the upper quartile of finance functions
- Advanced Excel
- Financial Control, all aspects including month end
- Financial Planning and forecasting
- Business Partnering
- Working in a Matrix management structure

Member or Fellow of one of the following:

- Institute of Chartered Accountants (ACA)
- Chartered Institute of Management Accounts (CIMA)
- Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA)
- CCAB Qualified
