Overview

As Finance Analyst (Oldbury), you will provide day-to-day financial support to drive the performance and growth of the business and act as an influential business partner with the regions.

• Base salary: Up to £40,000 (based on experience); Package c. £47,000
• Location: Oldbury (B69 2BG)
• This is a 6-9months fixed-term contract

The Role

• Produce month-end reporting, in line with business expectations, identify key business performance insights, assumptions, challenges, risks and opportunities.
• Develop and drive through improvements to the month end reporting process to gain better control and visibility of performance. Engage key stakeholders to ensure the plans are owned by budget owners.
• Support in-year and long term three year planning reporting and forecasting, detail all cost and related revenue streams, ensure all relevant assumptions are embedded in the plans.
• Consolidate the financial performance, forecasts and specific issues into concise, engaging presentations to allow well-informed and timely decisions to be made.
• Ensure the financial control framework is robust and operating efficiently.
• Develop and improve existing KPIs/dashboards to provide better understanding of the impact of short-term and medium-term decisions.
• Assist with the preparation of business cases to steer the strategic direction, understanding and challenging any assumptions. Co-ordinate the due diligence process.
• Manage operational and regulatory risks, escalating as appropriate.
• Ensure information systems are operated to the required standard to maintain accurate and secure records.
• Ensure there are adequate resources, including contingency arrangements, to run the business and meet our customer commitments.
• Understand and adhere to the company and department standards, policies and procedures.
• Adhere to the Competence and Training procedures, in particular, to promote a culture where customers are treated fairly and are properly informed.
• Apply British Gas values in all day-to-day activities.

The Person

• Technical/Educational: Fully qualified accountant with a globally recognised accountancy body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA); Advanced Excel modelling skills.
• Experience: Financial analysis and forecasting and/or management accounting within a large corporate organisation; Commercial outlook with a clear focus on value and continuous improvement; Excellent analytical skills and forecasting modelling, with the ability to interpret and analyse data to make informed and insightful business recommendations to influence the direction of the business.
• Relationship: Succinct communication style with the ability to build strong relationships within the business and finance teams and engage and influence management teams.
• Leadership: Ability to assess the wider picture, anticipate issues before they arise and identify opportunities.
• Environment: Ability to juggle conflicting demands and deliver work on-time every-time to the highest possible standards.
