Field Service Technician

TELECOM PIPELINE SCADA ROAD WARRIOR WANTED TO OPERATE OUT OF HOUMA LOUISIANA PROVIDING TELECOM, DATA NETWORK, MW AND RF SUPPORT TO PIPELINE INSTALLATIONS BOTH ON-SHORE AND OFF-SHORE. Candidates must be able to work independently to provide skilled technical support for installation, configuration, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems and associated equipment including Radio Frequency (RF) and Microwave (MW) communication systems, VSAT, local office phone systems and related equipment.

OVERVIEW

- Install and maintain VSAT (Satellite Communications) systems for SCADA support both inshore and offshore (Spacenet, Hughes PES, HughesNet)
- Install and maintain Microwave Radio networks for SCADA support (MDS radios)
- Install, file transfer, troubleshoot, and maintenance of ARCOM Directors
- Frequent use of spectrum analyzers and Birdog Satellite meters
- Certified HughesNet installer
- Knowledge and use of multiple data communication methods (Ethernet, serial, etc.)
- Install and maintain network and phone system infrastructure at local offices
- Perform basic AC and DC power installation and troubleshooting on RTU and Communication panels
- Basic knowledge of RTUs and end devices (OMNIs, Allen-Bradley PLCs, Rosemount transmitters, PEXPs )
- Good computer skills
- Possess a TWIC card

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide telecommunications installation and support services for oil field sites across area
- Perform trouble-shooting and MAC support for all telecom equipment
- Install and support well site and field VSAT, RF and MW communication equipment
- Diagnose, test, repair cable/wiring problems (wiring closet to desktop; and backbone)
- Support SCADA communications links including modems and VSAT for pipeline sites
- Work with Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) and Long Distance carriers to isolate and resolve communications circuit troubles
- Use Remedy ticketing system to track work assignments and internal billing

REQUIREMENTS

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Significant travel required including overnight stays
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, walk and stand for long periods of time
- Excellent driving record (vehicle provided)
- High School diploma or GED
- 5+ years in Telecom support experience including RF and MW
- Oil Field experience a plus
- FREQUENT TRAVEL ACROSS THE AREA (80+%) AND SIGNIFICANT OVERTIME REQUIRED
- Must be able to work independently
- Excellent technical skills
- Good ability to communicate and interact with customers
- Excellent driving record and an extreme focus on safety.
