JOB SUMMARY
Field Installation Technician undertakes the installation of new racks/cabinets, Optical and Router equipment or modifications of existing installed equipment. Installations to confirm to Company Standards following MOPS and within defined Process and Procedures. Installation background with DC Power, AC Power, Rectifiers, Grounding, Structured Cabling. Background in Detail Engineering, Site Surveys, Site Audits. Technical knowledge of DWDM based optical transmission systems design (Networks, Devices, and Technology), component qualifications Knowledge of Telcordia GR 1275, 1502, 2981.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (IN DECREASING CRITICAL EMPHASIS ORDER)
- Backgrounds with detailed CO Engineering, Documentation, CO Infrastructure, Process Improvement, MOPS.
- Experience with installation of mini-BDFB, Rectifiers, Fuse Panels, Patch Panels (high density fiber patch panels)
- Experience with the installation of racks, cabinets on raised floors, slap floors.
- Experience with un-strut installation.
- Understanding of earthquake zone requirements. Background knowledge of Telcordia GR 1275, 1502, 2981. (fr-19)
- Experience with installation of DC power cable and landing DC power cable on BDFB's, Mini-BDFB's and all related safety procedures.
- Understanding of grounding requirements for equipment, racks and facilities grounding, and H-Tap procedures.
- Experience with Rectifiers/Invertors.
- Experience with proper fiber cleaning procedures, radius bend and fiber running procedures, fiber management procedures
- Experience performing Site Surveys, developing Floor Plans, performing Site Audits.
- Understanding of configuration and test procedures of optical equipment and testing procedures such as, Alactel - Lucent, Infinera, NSN, Adva DWDM and Juniper Carrier Class Routers.
- IP equipment installation and testing procedures.
- Experience with the use of optical light source and light meter.
- Proficient with laptop and windows applications.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS, INDICATE PREFERRED AS APPLICABLE
Formal Education
-Associates Degree Telecommunications or equivalent work experience.
Experience (type & duration)
- Four years of related installation, site audit, and site survey experience.
