Fermentation Associate Job

Yoh has a contract opportunity for FERMENTATION ASSOCIATE to join our client in Emeryville, CA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- This individual will perform microbial fermentations to produce recombinant proteins using soluble and insoluble expression systems.
- These efforts will supply the purification group with raw material to support scale down studies.
- The successful candidate will also design and analyze flask and fermentation experiments with minimal supervision.
- Novartis Diagnostics is seeking a highly motivated individual with proven abilities who will be involved in the execution and analysis of upstream fermentation experiments.
- We expect the successful candidate to contribute to the group by collaborating with colleagues to support company goals.
- The incumbent will rigorously document work in laboratory notebooks and summarize work in presentations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- B.S. degree in biological or chemical sciences plus a minimum of one to five (1-5) years relevant industrial experience.
- Experience operating microbial fermentors and using fermentation software packages.
- Ability to plan and execute basic protocols such as flask experiments.
- Mechanical Aptitude and ability to trouble shoot processes and equipment.
- A flexible schedule with the ability to do some shift work and availability on weekends.
- Experience performing basic analytical protein techniques (Bradford, SDS-PAGE, HPLC).
- Excellent, up to date recordkeeping.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
- Experience with statistical software packages a plus Commitment to laboratory safety practices and hygiene.
