Experienced Telecommunications Technician

National Infrastructure Services provides a broad range of design and consultancy services to support Telecommunications projects throughout Australia.

THE POSITION

Our client is currently looking to expand their current business and are looking for experienced Telecommunications Technicians to join in their team. At the moment this may only be a short-term engagement on a casual basis but if the work grows and they find good candidates they could move to more permanent positions. The roles by nature are field based and could involve travel throughout the state or interstate as work requires.

This diverse role will require a mature, hand on, innovative a candidate who has in-depth knowledge of mobile radio networks and equipment as well as transmission systems.
A current driver licence and the ability to travel to client site for early starts will be required. The use of own vehicle may not be required as you will be working in a team with other staff using works vehicle.

You will need to provide your own hand tools so that you can hit the ground running from day one. Any specific or specialist telecoms tools will be provided by client.

Reporting to the Field Services Manager for the state your role will be to assist the installation or modification of equipment within telcoms rooms or shelters, test and commission Radio Base Stations where required, move and test transmission systems, perform sweep test on Anritsu and also if required complete troubleshooting and maintenance duties. Other tasks may include installation of DC cable, tray work, equipment racks, battery/back-up supply, environmental controls as required.

Schedules will include some night and/or weekend work so you should have flexibility to work rotating shifts if required and have the ability to work independently in a high pressure environment in the field.

The hourly rate will be negotiated on experience, qualifications, skills and attributes.

ESSENTIAL AUSTRALIAN EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Hands on installation, maintenance and upgrade of Huawei BTS and Nokia equipment across 2G/3G/LTE technologies

Ericsson RBS Experience is advantageous

Integration and call testing Experience

Microwave installation

Eltek installation and commissioning

Open Cabling Licence - fibre and copper installation, test and fault finding

Whitecard

Working at Heights

RadHaz

Operator inductions - Optus - VHA - Telstra

DESIRABLE

Current First Aid certificate

ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES

Self motivated and have good time management skills
