Contract Term

This position closes at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1st, 2012.

This is a 6-month contract opportunity that requires full time for first two weeks and then two days per week for the remainder of the contract.

Overview
Our client has developed an Excel based application that is used for project management. The application (2 versions) tracks project management, finance, tangible Capital asset and asset management combined. It can track a project up to 3 years span (V1 Lite) or 15 year span (V1), making tracking budget and expenditures faster and efficient for the user.

Tracking feature:

- Budget and Estimation Guidance - Cost estimating is the prediction of the costs of the project, beginning at inception through to project completion. Cost estimating is performed over the life of the project with increasing degrees of accuracy. These estimated costs are used to guide decision making in advancing the project through its various stages. Budget is tracked at various levels from Order of Magnitude to Working budget. It can also track budget using multiple funding sources.
- Expenditures and funding source allocation - Has the capability of tracking expenditures by month of each year. It also has the capability to track the allocation of a funding source for each expenditure invoice.
- Tangible Capital Assets - The Client's tangible capital assets processes are at various levels of maturity. When a project manager is using V1 Lite to track a project, he is capable of tracking the TCA at the same time.

Other features (V1 Lite):

- Capable of generation of a pdf copy of invoice, tangible capital assets, and progress certificate. It can also produce a pdf summary report for the entire project.
- Links to Progress Certificate, change orders and tangible capital assets Spreadsheets allowing the user to create PC, CO and enter tangible capital assets data more efficiently.
- Being developed with minimal data in order for it to work faster. If a user requires additional rows in budget tabs, just a one click of a button will add additional rows and automatically pastes the formula on each row.
- Has a payment and budget report tab where a user can find how much of the budget was spent, how much are left, and how much was overspent. It also has the payment information and how much was spent for each month of each year. It can also track recovery amounts.
- Has report charts related to budget, funding sources, expenditures, progress certificates and change orders.
- Has buttons which link to specific file folders.
- Copies data entered in one cell to other tabs that require that data.

Security (V1 Lite):

- Login and passwords - Ensures the security and confidentiality of data that is stored on various tabs.
- User registration: log in time, last save and log out - V1 Lite is capable of tracking the user's login time and the time the user saved the worksheets as well as the time he logs out from it. If there are multiple users that are registered in the spreadsheet, the project manager can monitor who logs in and logs out.
- Locked cells - Most of the cells in the worksheets are locked so that the user will not be able to change or delete cells that have formulas in them.

Role and Responsibilities

Project Scope and Project Objectives: - Create/complete technical documentation for PMP Excel VBA application
- Make minor modifications and enhancements to PMP Excel VBA application

Deliverables:

- Technical documentation for PMP
- Documenting new business requirements for enhancements
- Make minor changes and enhancements to PMP Excel VBA application
- Work is required on both V1 (larger capacity but similar) and V1 Lite
- V1 Lite is an excel based tracking tool that has VBA codes to automatically help the user track information and helps the user use the tool faster and more efficiently.

Automation:
V1 Lite has VBA codes in order to automate the various data and to make it faster to produce the required data by the user. VBA codes also reduce data entry errors and duplication of entries. VBA codes activate when triggered. There are multiple triggers involved in this worksheet.

- Click buttons

- Forms
- Loops
- Hidden and Visible
- Enable events
- Intersect
- Protect and Unprotect
- Captions
- Hyperlinks

Links:
V1 Lite is capable of creating pdf files and saving them automatically in a target folder. It can also rename the filename based on the information that was entered into V1 Lite. It can open a separate spreadsheet like Progress Certificate and Change Orders and links it to the PMP V1 Lite.

Formulas and Sub formulas
V1 Lite is composed of formulas and sub formulas that automatically calculate the data. Sub formulas are needed in order to calculate the data from raw data and then a formula would be linked to a sub formula in order to get the results.

The formulas and sub formula are located in various tabs of the worksheets. These are hidden and locked. Some of the formulas involved are:

- IF then or else statements
- Subtotal
- Sum
- Counta
- Countifs
- Vlookups

Qualifications
Required Skills

- Experience with creation of VBA code: - Click buttons, VBA code, Forms, Loops (Hidden and Visible), Enable events, Intersect. - Protect and Unprotect, Captions, Hyperlinks.
- Experience in creating technical documentation is a requirement.

Desired Skills

- Previous work experience with Government Organizations or equivalent endeavours.
