EUC TECHNICAL ARCHITECT (3 MONTH INITIAL CONTRACT)

INTRODUCTION:

The company is developing a new EUC strategy to support its workforce in an effective and flexible way.  This comes about as we migrate desktop services between historical organizations while at the same time taking opportunity to examine how our data centre and Back End business services can be refreshed to support both EUC and our broader business services with increased efficiency and flexibility. 

In executing this programme a number of stages of work must be completed from assessment, through design, technical implementation and service transformation.  A number of resources will be required as the programme runs to augment technical and EUC expertise and ensure the right outcome. 

THE ROLE:

This role will focus on finalizing the assessment of existing EUC services, assessing shortlisted to-be EUC architectures and developing strawman infrastructure architectures that will be required in support.  In doing so there will be a focus on complexity, cost, time to implement and the balance between technical innovation and re-use. 

The post-holder will hold joint responsibility for the delivery of these EUC design options, working with a small team of technical and infrastructure architects, operational teams and as required with our business users. 

As the programme progresses past this initial assessment and if the candidate is considered suitable, the role may then expand to the delivery of more detailed technical and infrastructure architectures, transformation planning (technical and desktop) and assisting with the delivery of the required technology services. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assessment of as-is technology areas, working closely with technical SME to identify constraints & dependencies that may introduce design complexity.
- Development of future EUC technology models.
- Support in establishing PoC, driving technical partners and supporting project management in delivery of these and other activities.
- Development of Strawman Infrastructure architectures
- Contribute to the development of cost and delivery models for the selected EUC technology. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will have broad experience across EUC technology architecture and preferably infrastructure architecture, being able to tie both together in the delivery of a coherent strategy. 

Experience in the following areas at this level in the last 3-5 years would be expected. 

- Identity Management/SSO on premise & cloud
- Remote access and mobile working
- Office 365
- Citrix - XenApp
- VMWare - Horizon View, VSphere 5
- Windows Server 2008/2012/HyperV
- Microsoft Exchange, Lync Server
- Windows Azure 

Additionally, the candidate should have experience of the supporting infrastructure components for the above technology areas, particularly: 

- Desktop Hardware and configuration
- Storage (EMC)
- Networks
- Active Directory including federated services (cloud)
- Server virtualisation
- Telecoms (Avaya) integration into EUC services 

It would also be desirable for the candidate to have experience of application architectures typically found in the insurance industry such as Prophet.
