eTrading Production Engineer - Electronic Markets - Fixed Income IT - contract - Investment Banking - London - £550- £600/day

Electronic Markets Application Production Domain is responsible for technical support and project delivery for Fixed Income Electronic Markets systems including eCommerce and eTrading areas. This role is within a team covering all technical aspects of the Electronic Trading platform for Rates and Credit business. Including in-house pricing applications for Bonds, Swaps and CDS, algorithmic trading components, STP and Market access. The contract eTrading Production Engineer will be part of a team providing services including: support, release and project tasks for the Credit and Rates areas. The role requires a wide range of technical skills.

Responsibilities will include:
*Monitor, manage and improve performance of the production environments
*Technical support of the platform within a rota basis.
*Incident and problem management to continuously improve the stability of the platform
*Architecture design with contribution from development, Infrastructure and security teams
*Coordination of infrastructure, application production, development and security teams during the build out phase until delivery
*Pro-actively manage the capacity of applications in his remit
*Plan and implement application releases, load tests and configuration changes
*Customize production tools including monitoring, scheduling and housekeeping
*Provide feedback and propose solutions to management on performance, capacity and design issues
*Deliver the relevant documentation on the platform he/she manages to the global support teams
*Coordinate and organise changes with external vendors, markets and ECNs

Technical skills required:-

Production experience across the following:
*System administration - Strong knowledge of Linux and good understanding of windows
*Proven experience and skills in ION -Marketview
*Proven project management skills to deliver medium scale projects.
*Scripting (Python, Shell, SQL....) and development skills for administration, monitoring and support tools.
*Good network and Firewall infrastructure understanding.
*Good understanding of multicast messaging (ideally in a Tibco Rendezvous environment).
*Ability to analyse network captures
*Strong knowledge of eTrading area systems
*Monitoring - practical experience on some of the following tools: Geneos, Splunk
*Knowledge of Rates and/or Credit businesses

Desirable IT Skills
*Databases - exposure to or skills in SQL Server and Oracle
*Schedulers - exposure to or skills in AutoSys
*Understanding of application life cycle
*Appreciation of production processes, including change and release management
