Background
Our Central Government client is looking to recruit an Equipment Support Manager to work within their small team.This is a contract for an initial 6 months. The Equipment Support Manager is responsible to the Programme Manager for the General Equipment Support planning, in-service management and co-ordination of engineering support for the systems and equipment within the section. Due to the nature of the role preference will be given to candidates that hold valid SC Clearance.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
Duties
1. Assist the Programme Manager in the in-service management of equipment and resources on behalf of the Branch.
2. Maintain equipment availability at all levels within allocated budget and in accordance with processes and procedures and allocated priorities by:
a. Asset and Liability matching; liaison with sponsor branches, project offices, HQ Land Forces, Users, Technical Support, Prime Contractors and all associated support agencies to control the issue, loan and disposal of specified equipment and where appropriate, configuration control.
b. Identifying spares requirements, including key critical spares, and monitoring usage of consumables, taking appropriate procurement action to achieve agreed sustainability targets.
c. Planning, initiating and monitoring repair programmes, liaising with the Repair Manager as appropriate to identify loadings and costings.
d. Identifying obsolescence and legislative issues, initiating and monitoring activity including the preparation of business cases and the co-ordinating equipment updates; liaising with other departments as appropriate.
e. Monitoring equipment reliability, providing feedback on performance, reliability and maintainability.
f. Maintaining equipment support policy in accordance with overarching policy and strategy, providing advice when required.
g. Determining equipment support policy for equipment undergoing development or major evolutionary change.
h. Initiating and amending Engineering Support Plans as necessary.
i. Determining and achieving 'Logistic Support Date' Readiness.
j. Implementing the user's deployment and fielding plans.
k. Assessing and reviewing tools, and publications requirements.
l. Evaluating technical suggestions.
m. Advise on organisational, manpower, training and repair implications arising from introduction into service of new equipment.
3. Ensure specified artillery equipments are safe to operate and that any hazards and risks are correctly identified, addressed and controlled.
This includes:
a. Ensuring all specified Legacy equipment has an approved, published and current Safety Case.
b. Ensuring all new equipment has an approved Safety Case before acceptance.
c. Implementing controls that have been agreed by the Safety and Environmental Working Group.
4. In conjunction with the Safety Officer, accountable for the routine management and administration of equipment safety cases or assessments relevant to the projects for which you are responsible.

Skills/Experience Required
Experience in managing day to day policy Knowledge of safety systems

Formal Qualifications Required
A HNC Engineering qualifications would be advantageous.
