Client in the energy industry is looking for several Environmental Engineers/Scientists or Civil Engineers with 5-15+ years of experience related to Power Transmission, Substation or distribution projects, or related linear utility experiences (gas pipeline, transportation) in the Mid-Atlantic region (DC/MD/DE/NJ. Our client is looking for candidates that are local to these areas. Must also have experience providing Expert Testimony for environmental commissions and White Papers on environmental rules/regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Work within the Environmental Planning division to oversee the environmental permitting on the company's transmission, substation, and distribution construction projects
- Providing GIS desktop analysis and initial permit matrices for proposed projects
- Developing cost estimates and project schedules
- Provide oversight of field studies as well as review and analyze field study reports
- Analysis of project study needs and issuance of task order assignments
- Develop presentation materials, maps, figures, risk analysis, milestones, and project tracking details for assigned projects
- Coordinate project documentation and provide weekly progress reports
- Write testimony, white papers and provide written technical analysis of environmental rules and regulations, environmental guidance documents, etc
- Review permit applications and approve agency submittals

REQUIREMENTS

- You need 5-15+ years of related experience in siting, permitting and environmental compliance related to power transmission, substation, or distribution projects, or related linear utility experiences (gas pipeline, transportation)
- Possess strong working knowledge of NEPA, Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act, and Section 106 of the Historic Preservation Act, among others specific to utility-related projects
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related physical or biological science
- Working knowledge of laws, regulations pertaining to siting, land use, environmental policy, clean water, endangered species, land management, invasive species, migratory birds, raptor protection, wildlife protection, historic and cultural protection
- Experience providing Expert Testimony for environmental commissions and White Papers on environmental rules/regulations
- Working knowledge of general erosion and sediment control and construction best management practices
- Field experience working on ROW corridors
- Experience in completing wetland delineations, habitat surveys, etc. preferred
- Experience permitting projects in Delaware, Maryland, Washington D.C., and New Jersey is preferred
