Entry Level Network Technician Job

ENTRY LEVEL NETWORK TECHNICIAN needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Portsmouth, NH.

POSSESSION OF AN ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE WITH AN SSBI (CLEARABLE FOR SSBI WITH ACTIVE SECRET IS ACCEPTABLE) IS REQUIRED AS A CONDITION FOR EMPLOYMENT.

Top Skills Should You Possess:
- A+ Certification on hand on first day. (Could accept Network +, Security +, or CISSP)

What You'll Be Doing:
- Under immediate supervision, operate tools and equipment required to install, repair, and maintain copper and fiber optic cabling, associated media, and related infrastructure.
- Assist in providing connectivity to either the NMCI network or Legacy network.
- Perform staging, delivery, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, de-installation and movement of equipment, and disassembly and reassembly of components and systems for each move (installing/removing cable/fiber, connections)
- Install NMCI infrastructure cabling to allow for quick removal of cables in the event of an emergency or where permanent infrastructure is not possible
- Provide NMCI field services and infrastructure support for ship and barge moves within the shipyard organization and moves within their assigned buildings and spaces.
- Conserve and re-use materials where practical.
- Provide flexibility in response to planned requirement changes and emergencies in order to support the critical Fleet maintenance and operational requirements
- Provide monthly reports which will include WFS switch inventory, bi-weekly hours expended per labor code, tasks planned, in process or completed by project

What You Need to Bring to the Table:
- High school Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- A+ Certification on hand on first day. (Could accept Network +, Security +, or CISSP)
- Possess basic hand tools to meet the requirements outlined within this Waterfront Support service
- Two to four (2-4) years of experience required. Demonstrate an understanding of Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA)/Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) standards and appropriate Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) certifications.
- Able to walk, climb up and down ladders and ship stairways, bend, stoop, lift and carry equipment weighing 50 pounds or less.
