Enterprise Project Officer

Annual Salary - £22,221 - £28,638

Full Time - 37 hours per week

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Based in Chelmsford County Hall

The role of Essex County Council's Enterprise Team is to contribute to the development of an internationally competitive economy for Essex where businesses of all sizes are able to start up, innovate and grow and which is a location of choice for inward investment.

The Enterprise Team works across a number of themes to maximise opportunities for businesses in Essex.

This is expressed in three Strategic Aims:

- To attract successful inward investment delivering value for the Essex economy
- To secure the retention and growth of new and existing companies in Essex
- To encourage and assist companies in Essex to trade internationally

A key theme within our Enterprise programme is to ensure that small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) have access to the support they need to realise their growth potential. This includes identifying opportunities for innovation, collaboration, productivity improvement, accessing new markets, securing investment, etc, especially for companies in our priority growth sectors.

The Role of an Enterprise Project Officer is key to the success of the programme, and involves co-ordination of the delivery of a range of activities to ensure effective delivery of our innovation programmes.

This will involve extensive contact with businesses, business organisations, intermediaries, service providers and public sector partners, and helping to develop and deliver solutions which deliver tangible business benefits for clients, leading to innovation, investment and growth in Essex.

The post holder must be very client and results focused and tenacious, with the ability to develop often creative solutions for clients. A high level of communication and interpersonal skills will be required as well as the ability forge excellent partnerships with other organisations.

Working within the Enterprise Team to support, co-ordinate and manage the delivery of a range of activities to enable Essex businesses to start-up, innovate and grow including:

- Providing businesses with access to first class innovation support
- Supporting and developing the delivery of vibrant sector networks
- Gathering and analysing of sector-specific and general economic intelligence to support programme development and delivery, including understanding the challenges affecting businesses' competitiveness and plans for growth
- Developing and delivering specific and generic solutions.

The outcome will be that more Essex businesses are enabled and supported to be more productive, innovate and grow, creating more jobs for local people.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

- Educated to degree level, equivalent academic qualification, or equivalent relevant experience
- Track record of good working relationships with private and public sector organisations, and general partnership building
- Successful project management experience and working within a project management environment providing information for reports
- Experience of marketing and promotional activities including event management

Any successful applicant to this post would be appointed on a fixed term contract.
