Enterprise Monitoring Tools Specialist (Banking Systems)

THE COMPANY

Our client is one of Australia's leading and largest Financial Services Organizations that has expanded its operations beyond the Australian shores. The organization has a large range of financial offerings to both public and private clients across the retail, corporate and institutional banking areas. They have a very large technical footprint that combines a dynamic range of technologies in an ultimately complex landscape. Due to an expanding remit of this team's service offering to the bank they require an Enterprise Operations Engineer with expertise across a wide range of Monitoring Tools Solutions (eg HP and MS tools suites, Nagios, Splunk etc.) to lay out tools strategy and design solutions.

THE TEAM

The group has a very large remit, to evaluate and improve bank wide systems with a focus on system high availability, performance, capacity and reliability. This team has been organically grown over the last 3 years and now, due to their excellent success record of improvements, they have been given a wider remit and larger projects.

THE ROLE

This role is a very specific and senior role for the performance group. They're seeking an Operations Engineer (Guru) with an excellent grasp of Enterprise, Multi-tiered Architecture and experience across strategy and solution design of enterprise wide monitoring tools. It's a technology agnostic role in that the ideal candidate will have worked with a wide range of monitoring tool sets/solutions (eg HP and MS Tool sets, Nagios, Splunk etc.) and thus be able to evaluate and recommend solutions based on experience having seen solutions fail, succeed, issues with scalability, limitations the works.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

- Extensive experience (8+ years) in an Operations role specializing in Monitoring Tools.
- Experience in Strategy/Design of Monitoring Tools Solutions eg - HP Tools Suite, MS Tool Suite, Nagios, Splunk etc
- A Strong Holistic Technical Background spanning multiple disciplines eg Development, Networks, Infrastructure (Servers, Databases) and an understanding of how they all relate.
- Expertise across: System Performance, Resilience, High Availability and Capacity (Demand Management).
- Experience delivering full Agile life cycle performance engineering from requirements to release and capacity planning.
- Experience contributing to the design of robust solutions to future-proof complex technology systems.
- Experience evaluating and analysing large enterprise wide project initiatives and systems across multiple technologies and business units.
- Identify non-functional risks commensurate with project design and manage to or hand over for closure.
- Experience with large, complex web portals and/or Back End transactional systems.
- Experience in Banking/Finance, Telco, Gaming, Media, High Frequency Trading, eBanking/eCommerce or Distributed Systems an advantage.
- Strong analytical and communication skills; a passion and drive for technical excellence.
