ENTERPRISE ARCHITECT
Location: Reading [Berkshire]
Duration: 6-12 Months
Security Clearance: DV

EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: This assignment will be working with one of Steria's most prestigious Government Clients. You will work through Steria Recruitment for Steria, the UK's leading Outsourcing and Technology Company.

This is a great new opportunity for an Enterprise Architect to lead a team of architects (as appropriate) and own the end-to-end architectural deliverables. And provides business, IS and IT strategic guidance to clients and provides strategic direction based on Steria standards and policies to internal delivery teams.

On client's instructions, due to the urgency, nature and length of the assignment, the successful candidate must have current security clearance to DV level. This role complies with national security vetting requirements.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Works within Steria clients to assist in the: development and definition of Client business and IT Strategies, establishing the business and technical direction and delivery architecture
- Responsible for ensuring best practice architectural standards, methodologies and tools are defined and delivered across programmes.
- Assist with the resourcing strategy of business and technical personnel.
- Develop and define overall solutions architectures for Steria programmes and bids, being responsible for the business and technical feasibility, completeness and cohesiveness of overall solutions.
- Controls overall business and system design within an enterprise or industry architecture framework. Influences and adapts industry-based models for the development of new business architectures and IS/IT systems.
- Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements, including: performance, scalability, availability, security, manageability, adaptability
- Ensures solutions provide value for money in terms of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
- Develops effective implementation strategies. Overall responsibility for managing and coordinating the architecture of business architecture and IS/IT systems. Ensures appropriate documentation of: business architecture, software architecture, infrastructure architectures, technical solutions, implementation strategies, are delivered to programmes to a high level of quality.
- Lead and direct business and technical resource throughout the solution
- Identify, assess and communicate all solution risks to the business so that they can be managed and appropriate commercial decisions can be taken.
- Take ownership of all solution risks on a programme and ensure resolution or mitigation.
- Define technical criteria for product/component selection. Decide on or recommend structures and tools for systems, which meet the agreed requirements

DIMENSIONS

- Knowledge across all architecture domains (People, Organisation, Process, Information and Technology) with in depth knowledge of at least three.
- Demonstrable experience of working as the Solution Owner on programmes with a total contract value in excess of circa £100M.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Knowledge across all architecture domains (People, Organisation, Process, Information and Technology) with in depth knowledge of at least three.
- Proven ability to lead a team of architects and other business and technical professionals to deliver enterprise strategies and solutions to customers.
- Strong financial, commercial and leadership skills.
- Ability to define and analyse user requirements and advise customers on scope and options for business and operational improvements.
- Ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Prepares and delivers briefings and presentations for project teams, management and customers as appropriate, often at board level.
- Displays a deep and broad understanding of all aspects of enterprise architecture and IS/IT. Understands and communicates the role and impact of IS/IT in customers organisations.
- Takes initiative to keep own skills up to date and to maintain awareness of developments in enterprise architecture and the IS/IT industry. Ensures that others do likewise.
- Demonstrates creativity and innovation in applying enterprise architecture and IS/IT solutions for the benefit of customers.
- Tackles problems with an analytical and systematic approach. Is able to assess and evaluate risk and to understand the implications of new technologies in enterprise environments.
- Effective solutions designed across architectural domains
- Ownership of all solution risks
- Effective management of architect resource in line with HR guidelines
- Enterprise architecture and technical background with wide ranging IS/IT experience in a number of roles including significant experience of working in a senior architectural and management role.
- Proven experience of delivering IS/IT strategies to clients as well as managing complex technical designs and enterprise architectures in a fast changing environment.
- Recognised architecture qualification/certification.
- Knowledge and application of a recognised architecture framework.

ORGANISATION

Typically works with Programme Directors and other Senior Management within Steria.
Engages with clients and prospective clients at a senior level, quite often including CIOs and CTOs in larger organisations and CEO/other CxO level positions in medium sized client organisations.
Directs a team of Architects and other technical specialists.
May also have line management responsibility for a team of Architects.
