Enterprise Architect - 80% Infrastructure, 20% Software

Global industry leader known as a Top Employer in the Atlanta area seeks an Enterprise Infrastructure Architect for their Alpharetta location to be responsible for the planning and implementation of comprehensive technology solutions that meet the clients's business requirements on high-impact projects. Provides guidance and architectural oversight during the detailed architecture design, application design, build, and testing and deployment phases. Most likely a multi-year contract.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Define end to end technical solutions that take into account the enterprise architecture strategies, current state environment and constraints; analyze the viability of the solution to meet program timeline, budget and quality.
- Work with Data Architecture, Security Architecture and Infrastructure SME's to ensure that all aspects of the solution architecture are defined and elaborated.
- Leads multiple technology groups and vendors to ensure that the application, integration, infrastructure and security architectures are designed to meet evolving business requirements, standards for reliability, scalability and availability.
- Identify, recommend, source, negotiate and implement emerging IT trends, developments and improvements/solutions by buying, building or reusing.
- Assist project teams with establishing standard process and defining all development infrastructure including Servers, tiered environments, migration standards, and version control standards.
- Provide technical support to IT management and developers to ensure efficient applications and adherence to standards.
- Partners with other Enterprise Architects by: ensuring all deviations are identified and approved; identifying gaps in current standards/services and negotiating enterprise vs. project solutions and developing standard application architectures, frameworks and development standards.

Education/Experience:

- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
- 8-10 years of IT solution delivery, preferably playing a diverse set of roles (eg programmer, architect, project manager).
- Experienced with all aspects of architecture including application, data, security and infrastructure.
- Experienced with program/projects involving complex integration of disparate types of technologies/platforms.
- Strong experience (5+ years and preferably 10) with Web applications and Java is a must.

Skills and Competencies:

- Strong architecture design and modelling capabilities.
- Solid experience with a variety of technologies/approaches including J2EE,.NET, Mainframe platform, packaged applications, multi-platforms applications, human workflow, EAI, SOA.
- Ability to apply industry/technical knowledge to provide solutions that increase business results and/or minimize risk regarding the integration of applications across multiple product systems and delivery channels.
- Strong documentation, written and verbal communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills to be able to interface effectively with a broad range of contacts; from technical staff to management.
