Enterprise Architect, Information Technology Division
Five year renewable contract

The European Medicines Agency (EMA), London, is looking for an Enterprise Architect, who is responsible for defining the Enterprise Architecture for the Agency to support effectively the implementation of the organizational business strategy. The Enterprise Architect will lead the technical design authority and be accountable for the delivery of architectural designs for the organisation's business processes, infrastructure/technology, applications, and data/information. The Enterprise Architect will also interact on architectural matters with Competent Authorities of Member States on relevant projects through the EU Telematics governance structure.

EMA works closely with the national competent authorities for human and veterinary medicines of the 28 European Union Member States, the three European Economic Area countries (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) and the European Commission (collectively, the Network). In the area of information technology (IT), a joint endeavour ? EU Telematics ? has been established to put in place and maintain common IT services to implement European pharmaceutical policy and legislation.

Responsibilities include:

? Develop, maintain and communicate an appropriate and actionable Enterprise Architecture for the Agency (covering information, business process, applications and technology) that will support the business strategy of the organisation;
? Review as-is enterprise architecture and identify and propose areas for improvement;
? Define and maintain the target architecture and the roadmap towards its implementation
? Chair architecture review meetings and monitor the underlying processes to help ensure new solutions are effectively designed and in line with the Enterprise Architecture;
? Lead and deliver product selection exercises and feasibility studies;
? Develop strategies for, and encourage reuse of common artefacts (e.g. foundational components, shared platforms, shared applications, web services
? Define opportunities to take advantage of emerging technologies
? Coach and mentor more junior architects on the strategic rationale of decisions and advise them on compliance of solutions with overall enterprise architecture.

Skills

You should be a national of a European Union (EU) Member State or of Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway. You need to have a university degree Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or any other related field and at least nine years? professional experience after obtaining the degree. Of these nine years? experience, at least six years? experience should be in the domain of relevant architecture including business process, information, applications, IT security and infrastructure in the context of technical leadership of large or complex projects. At least five years? experience should be enterprise-wide in a comparable position in the area of enterprise architecture. Experience in the above mentioned areas may be overlapping.

You also need to have a good command of English and a thorough knowledge of another official language of the European Union.
