Engineering Research Technician III Job

Yoh has a contract opportunity for an ENGINEERING RESEARCH TECHNICIAN III to join our client inAllentown, PA.

JOB OVERVIEW:

- Duration: Approximately 6 months.
- Pay Range: Up to $28.25 per hour.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Development of new gas flow and cryogenic equipment and instrumentation for laboratory (in-house) and occasional customer (field) trials. Setting up and lab testing of prototype equipment related to thermal treating of metals. This includes selection and assembly of mechanical and electronic flow-meters and other gas flow components such as the standard Swagelok and Omega products.
- Modifications of heat treating furnaces and/or thermal process-related, industrial gas equipment, involving prototyping, light fab, operation and troubleshooting. Thermocouple- and gas analyzer-inputs as well as PLC operation are within the scope of this responsibility.
- Other responsibilities comprise maintenance and upgrades of existing lab instrumentation, including electric lab furnaces, gas flow controls, cryogenic gas supply flow-trains, and gas composition analyzers.
- Candidate will be responsible for setting up and assisting with mechanical, electrical and metallurgical lab tests in multiple projects, as well as reporting work progress on a daily and weekly basis. Real Time supervision and coaching are minimal, so that the candidate must be intellectually prepared for working on and prioritizing work steps independently. Each new project in our lab is a non-routine project, excluding repetition of the previous work task projects.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- Hands-on, mechanical fab skills, including some machining, welding, brazing, and piping work, as well as repair and operation of basic electrical components is a must. Experience with industrial and cryogenic gases, as well as related equipment, eg: process control instrumentation, will be a plus.
- Two (2) plus years, reference-supported work track record at a recognized technical, academic, or industrial organization involving, also, an R&D, or design, development, and testing of new equipment prototypes.
