My client is looking for a number of Engineering Manager who have experience working in the nuclear industry.

The role is initially for 6 months however both extensions and a movement to a staff position will be considered. Rates are flexible based upon experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION

To manage and deliver a portfolio of projects within the Technical Functional Group, delivering technical excellence to both timescales and budgets, exceeding customer expectations.

* Fulfil the role of Bid Manager or Technical Manager on designated projects.
* To formally report progress and issues to the relevant business group.
* Undertake activities in addition to the job description as designated by line management
* Meet objectives as designated.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowledge & Understanding

* Strong theoretical keeps up to date with new technologies and their application to RTS work
* Develops sound solutions without guidance
* Selects cost effective and timely solutions when assessing current technologies
* Leads idea selection and innovation within known boundaries

Practical Application

* Can lead a team of multi-discipline personnel, inputting wide experience
* Determines most appropriate solution when faced with conflicting information or not all the facts
* Overcomes difficult problems and setbacks focusing on priorities to meet goals with limited resources
* Sets targets, analyses performance against objectives and identifies areas for improvement & improvement plans

Leadership & Management

* Recognises and responds to commercial pressures ensuring value for money is always achieved
* Sets own budget and continually analyses Profit and Loss performance
* Introduces improvements to existing levels of service
* Co-ordinates full project cycle, dovetailing activities to increase efficiency and meet quality standards
* Encourages independent problem solving, full ownership removing barriers where necessary

Communications & Interpersonal Skills

* Builds good relationships with internal & external customers and avoids conflict situations if possible
* Facilitates open dialogue, creates frequent opportunities for open communications
* Identifies others objections & underlying needs then stresses the benefits which meet these
* Creates opportunities to broaden others experience & encourages self development

Professional Conduct

* Ensures that team work consistently to systems & procedures
* Ensures team adheres to Company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures
* Is able to justify the adoption of standards both internally and to clients
* Assists others in developing additional skills
* Contributes ideas for change to improve performance and helps other adapt to change

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

- BSc in Engineering or signigicant demonstrable relevant technical experience and demonstrable managerial experience (minimum qualification HNC).
