Engineering Manager

Client in South Carolina is looking to add an Engineering Manager to their team. The candidate will provide engineering expertise and project management for additions to and modification of facilities and Equipments. This position utilizes a highly advanced knowledge and competency in advanced engineering principles and theories, as well as managerial skills to develop and ensure that professional engineering resources are available and cost effective for various functions. The incumbent must be familiar with government regulations and statutes, and possess expertise in a specialized area of engineering and consulting services, as well as knowledge about other engineering disciplines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide managerial direction and technical guidance to 2-4 Engineers and has overall responsibility for hiring, training, appraisal and job development to maintain a cohesive engineering organization.
- Work closely with operating management to identify opportunities to increase capacity, improve quality and service, and reduce costs in support of business objectives.
- Serve as a consultant and provide technical expertise to both management and other engineers in his/her area of specialization. Through a thorough understanding of new technology and anticipation of the benefits offered, she/he coordinates the timing and directions of engineering and systems staff efforts to gain the maximum short and long-term benefits of innovative thinking.
- Serve as coordinator of the budget proposal for a large capital expansion or improvement. She/he would determine the project scope and specifications, prepare the financial justifications, and present the proposal for management approval. After acceptance, she/he will coordinate and integrate the resources needed to complete the project, monitor their progress and assure the project meets its objectives.
- Support Lean Manufacturing Philosophy and ISO documentation.

REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required; MBA is a plus.
- 10+ years work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- The vision for planning and skills necessary to lead, participate, build and facilitate an effective engineering organization and team are important
- Excellent analytical, planning, problem solving, communications, and human relation's skills are essential for this position.
- Strong PC Skills needed, including working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Lean/Demand-Flow and ISO requirements a plus.
