About the Client Company
The existing Network Rail Station at Abbey Wood is to be completely redeveloped as part of the Crossrail programme of works. The role is initially to assist the Section Engineer in construction of local highways and utilities in the area around the station redevelopment. A number of other existing utilities need to be diverted through an existing live rail station area.

These utilities include:
- 991mm diameter sewer
- 180mm LP gas main
- Numerous electrical routes from 415v
- 133Kv
- Water mains
- Gravity and pumped systems Internal:

The individual will have contact with in house design teams to resolve design queries. Trade subcontractors. Site delivery team External: Station operator, local borough managers, members of the public, Network Rail client team.

Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Section Engineer, the candidates will have the following attributes:

Engineering Control
- Basic setting out techniques
- ability to use level, GPS & Total Station Quality
- Reads and understands drawings
- Understands ITP's
- Understanding of construction tolerance
- Awareness of Specification and other Contract documents Health Safety & Environmental
- Understands Permit System and actively raises permits to Work
- Basic environmental awareness
- CSCS Card Productivity
- Able to take off and schedule material quantities accurately Commercial
- Knowledge of specification and contract documents Highway Works
- Basic Knowledge of Highway Works
- Live Motorway Construction/Motorway Widening experience essential
- Basic Structures Experience
- Basic Earthworks and Drainage Experience
- Basic Roadworks Experience

Candidate Skills & Requirements
The candidate would ideally have a MEng/Degree/HND in Civil Engineering or suitable construction management related course. CSCS card

The following qualities/experiences are essential:
- Construction of road networks and knowledge of standard Highway specifications.
- Construction of gravity and pumped systems, electrical and communications routes.
- Working with large site team

The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- CFA and precast driven piling systems
- Reinforced concrete structures
- Construction work in a live rail environment. PTS card
- Detection and tracing of existing utility services. CAT RD 8000 CERT.
- Construction of Caissons
- Guided auger boring techniques
- Demolition
