Our client is currently seeking a Director for it's Energy Services Division, delivering power operations for the UK rail sector.

Knowledge of the UK Power and Energy Market is essential for this role, rail experience would be beneficial. Candidates must have held Senior Programme Manager/Director level responsibility

Job Purpose
To create and lead the energy services team, accountable for the efficiency, reliability and capacity of the Companys power distribution assets. Define and develop the organisation necessary to provide an environmentally and financially sustainable provision of energy for traction and non-traction consumers (Train Operators, Freight Operators, Route Teams, and NR Corporate teams). Accountable for the development of an efficient and effective national power distribution network service, and for defining the operational and maintenance rules under which this network will be managed (potentially by others)
To develop end to end technology strategies to meet the operational energy needs of the railway industry both now and in the future.

Key Accountabilities
To develop and deliver an energy strategy to meet the needs of the business and its customers (both internal and external to the rail industry) at an affordable price both now and in the future.
To lead, manage and continuously improve a national power distribution service to deliver the energy strategy, including the orchestration of all asset & design management, network development, network service, supplier development & management and customer management activities.
To direct delivery of the agreed work programme objectives, whilst achieving the efficiency savings and delivering the required route outputs.
To develop an appropriate strategy for the development and delivery of the agreed work scope through planned asset management work banks and regimes to optimise demands for access with customer objectives.
To lead the translation of standards, operational requirements and funding available into clear targets for delivery teams, to strategic route section (SRS) level.
To provide renewal and enhancement input to the development of power and energy asset policies.
To direct the production and development of funding submissions for the power and energy asset. Lead the power and energy asset input to funding negotiations.
To direct the production of power and energy renewal and enhancements specifications, addressing reliability in service, maintenance regimes, operability and affordability of the railway.
Work with other asset management directors to optimise route asset management plans, share best practice and identify areas for improvement.
Monitor power and energy infrastructure works and access planning so that it considers cross-asset programme requirements.
To develop a customer service oriented operational culture.
To be responsible for the leadership of a small central team of circa 100/150 people.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Educated to degree level
Contemporary knowledge of the UK power and energy market
Demonstrable previous experience of
oLeading and managing successful, large power operations
oDelivering large network development programmes to time, cost & quality
oDelivering high levels of customer service & satisfaction in rapidly changing and competitive environments
oHarnessing and aligning supply chains to deliver exceptional performance and value
Strong commercial focus and financially astute
Knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures
Knowledge of the principles of health and safety, quality and environment legislation and best practice
Excellent communication skills with demonstrable delivery of leadership and experience of behavioural change within a large organisation
