End User Computing Senior Engineer
Description:
The End User Computing Senior Engineer is responsible for contributing and defining the direction of the End User computing environment while ensuring continued stability and standard computing configurations. This includes working with the architecture team in researching and evaluating new technology, recommending products and overseeing and administering the engineering process from concept, design, implementation and maintenance. The Senior Engineer administers all Client Computing engineering activities including publishing, deploying and testing packages, develops, oversees and implements test plans and reviews and automates manual processes whenever possible. Also to help build and define best practices within ConfigMgr. Working on global deployment projects and rollouts.
The Senior Engineer is expected to have a working knowledge of all End User Computing Management tools, utilities, policies and procedures; as well as lead the disaster recovery process for the End User computing environment. Senior Engineer works with the End User computing Operations team and other IT areas to resolve enterprise problems impacting End User computing performance. The Senior Engineer is responsible for providing leadership and mentoring for junior members of the client computing engineering organization.
Job Requirements
Minimum of 8 years of experience using Microsoft System Center Suites 2007 & 2012 - namely Configuration Manager, Service Manager and Orchestrator.
MCSE or other related certification
Working knowledge of PC Backup, Migration and Asset management technologies.
Knowledge of MSI/Windows Installer format
Experience in Windows 10 Zero Touch upgrade and roll-out.
Experience in software and system implementation
Familiarity of project management principles
Experience in VMware Workstation (for repackaging software)
Experience in creating technical documentation
Experience in application packaging (AdminStudio)
Experience in Scripting (VBScript, batch files, InstallScript, Wise Script, etc.)
Experience with SQL queries and reporting
Experience with Microsoft Intunes and ADFS3 (or other MDM solutions)
Experience in Mac OS X Management (Mavericks, Yosemite, etc.)
Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Active Directory Group Policies, Exchange, and Windows Servers
Excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to clearly define projects, objectives, goals, schedules, and assignments
Ability to work effectively with business personnel at all levels as well as with outside vendors and contractors
Demonstrated knowledge of application testing environments
Demonstrated knowledge of LAN topology, Routers, hubs, Switches, and network protocols (TCP/IP, IPX)
In-depth working knowledge of enterprise supporting operating systems (Microsoft Windows 7, 8, 10), and the Microsoft Office suite of applications
Willingness and ability to adapt to rapid changes in order to support and use future technology
Excellent time management, customer service, and multi-tasking skills
Exercise independent judgment under minimum of supervision
Four-year college degree with emphasis in a computer related field or the equivalent skill, knowledge, and mental development
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines, follow written policies and procedures, and maintain superior customer service at all times with all users
Job Qualifications
Experience engineering a large Windows desktop/laptop/Citrix/Active Directory environment
Experience project managing, deploying and supporting large scale O/S migrations and introducing new technology based on business needs and industry standards
Solid foundation designing and implementing distributions with WSUS, Active Directory, Configuration Manager for the full life cycle with diagrams, workflow Visio's, support documentation and training, presentations, etc.
Resource Kit level knowledge of Windows 7 and Windows 8 and Windows 10
Ability to work independently without intensive oversight - must be a go-getter and take initiative on a regular basis finding ways to avoid problems proactively rather than just fixing them after the fact
Initiative and ability to research problems independently, finding root cause
Emphasis on sharing of knowledge through good communications, peer training and written documentation
Strong inter-personal skills
Positive customer service and team attitude (helping others when required)
