EMPLOYEE RELATIONS MANAGER, SURREY

3 MONTH CONTRACT+

Employee Relations Manager is required by a market leader in Surrey. Reporting into the Head of HR the Employee Relations Manager is responsible for providing a commercially-focused ER service, maximizing employee performance and engagement and minimising exposure of employment related litigation. The successful applicant will proactively identify business risks and recommend corrective and preventative management.

As part of an international team, the job holder will also play a key role in both sharing knowledge and best practice, and ensuring consistent application of policy and best practice across the HR function and people management population.

They will provide expertise, tools and systems to HRBPs and Managers across the company building capability and ensuring consistency and compliance.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

- Up to date understanding of employment legislation in UK and Ireland
- Solid understanding of HR policies
- Demonstrable success in an employee relations or HR generalist or role; has handled complex employee cases across discipline, grievance, capability, Employment Tribunals etc.
- Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, mediation skills and experience
- Flexibility and pragmatism
- Sensitivity and diplomacy
- Customer service orientation
- Strong verbal reasoning skills and written communication abilities
- Strong facilitation and communication skills with an ability to influence at all levels
- Strong coaching, consulting and team-building skills and observational techniques
- Ability to travel across the UK & Ireland, and occasionally to Europe with the needs of the role
- Degree or equivalent experience

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Analyses and trends HR data in order to proactively identify gaps in performance at organisational, functional or team level
- To own the following policies and processes in UK and Ireland and continually scan the external environment for new risks, new opportunities and best practices.
- Disciplinary, Grievance, Capability, Flexible Working, Data Protection, Attendance
- To provide support and guidance to Managers and HRBPs on complex disciplinary and grievance cases.
- In agreement with site HR to act as the investigating or hearing manager for appeals or cases that may result in 3rd party intervention.
- To advise and coach managers and HRBPs in performance management, capability cases and flexible working appeals
- To coach and advise HRBPs and Managers on long-term absence cases once company defined thresholds have been triggered.
- To champion diversity topics and be responsible for diversity reporting and monitoring
