Embedded Software Engineer Java/C++

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The engineer will be responsible for setting up and testing interactive video software applications and equipment functionality on the digital headend and cable set-top products, triaging the issues reported by multiple test teams from different vendors, and supporting software development and customer's need.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support multi-party working groups
- Troubleshoot software, network, and setup failures
- Isolate cause of failure and direction of further investigation by software component vendors/teams from log analysis and testing
- knowledge of setup environment and test and verbal/written descriptions of the test failure
- Determine relationship to known issues
- Create defect summary in bug tracking systems that isolate defect for repair
- Coordinate and follow up isolation activities including specific testing and/or engineering builds
- Provide impact assessment as to defect/impairment on overall system performance and user impact
- Close the loop on process with direction for fix where applicable as well as retest/analysis for fix determination

SKILLS:

REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Experience coding in C/C++, Java, Javascript. Experience with Perl, Python, Shell Scripting and makefiles a plus
- Experience with HTML5, SVG, CSS
- Experience working with Agile methodologies
- Working knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP UDP/IP, DHCP, HTTP, HTTPS, DLNA. Knowledge of IPv6, TR-069, MPEG
- Experience with Embedded Linux, including the boot loader, Linux Kernel, device drivers, and Flash-based file systems. In-depth knowledge of Linux device drivers and hardware interfaces would be a plus
- Proven knowledge of reliable and robust coding practice for the development of highly reliable Embedded system on multiple CPU platforms
- Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors in Software Engineering or equivalent and 7+ years experience
