EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER

A Software Engineer is required for a large Oil and Gas company based in the South West. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced programmer looking to gain/develop experience within the Oil and Gas market.

The position holds responsibility for engineering and maintenance of Embedded software products in accordance with a development plan, ensuring that the product requirements are met in accordance with planned timescales and costs.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

- Work as part of a team of software engineers.
- Creation of functional design specifications and product support and design information.
- Conceptual design of products to meet the FDS.
- Development of Embedded software products in C.
- Development of Embedded O/S device drivers and associated Middleware.
- Participate in Technical Investigations.
- Conduct qualification testing of new products and/or fault diagnosis of returned products in the Engineering laboratory.
- Undertake prototype and test equipment assembly and test in the engineering laboratories.
- Undertake equipment integration testing within the engineering laboratories.
- Support factory acceptance and system integration.
- Provide input and estimates to the Lead.

Qualifications/Requirements

- Degree/HND qualified (or equivalent) in Software Engineering.
- Proven Software Engineering background in Real Time Embedded systems.
- Working experience in programming languages including C and C++.
- Experience of QNX and or Linux O/S and associated development suites.
- Experience of working with codes of practice and national and international standards.
- Experience of configuring and working with TCP/IP, routing and serial communication protocols.
- Communicate effectively - verbal and written English.
- Capable of multi-tasking and working to agreed schedules and be 'commercially aware' in engineering solutions.
- Flexibility to work across a various range of Company products within the software discipline.
