Embedded Electronics Engineer

Our client is a defence and security company employing people globally. With a wide-ranging products and services covering aerospace, defence and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology, and support services.

Due to rapid growth, we are looking for a highly competent engineer to join the team near Melbourne Airport. It will be your responsibility to provide technical leadership and oversee a variety of complex tasks and projects. The successful candidate will have a high level of technical knowledge and experience in more than one area and will be able to provide a source of expert advice and assistance.

Responsibilities:

- Writing requirement and specification documents, test specifications for development activities
- Development of electric hardware modules for various signals such as Pitot Statics, Analog DC, AC Synchro, ARINC-717, ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, Thermocouples, Strain gauges etc.
- Transition of existing prototype designs into production.
- Development and manufacture of in house test equipment both automated and manual, jigs and tools for use in design verification and production testing
- Verification, validation and approval of other peoples work

Skills and Experience (a must):

- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar rol
- Understanding of planning requirements, risk management, and scheduling
- Digital and analog filters, signal conditioning, switch mode power supplies
- Understanding of EMI and EMC, electronics qualification
- Grasp of design for manufacture
- Component selection, schematic design and PCB layout, bill of materials
- Embedded programming

Desirable:

- Altium Designer
- VHDL programmable logic hardware description language
- Custom verification and validation tools, ie ATE (Automated Test Equipment)
