Electronics Engineer - Post Design Services/Support/Through Life/Obsolescence

Introduction:

Capital International is recruiting an Electronics Engineer/Through Life Engineer to join a defence electronics specialist, supporting a number of systems manufactured on site.

The role requires: support of service equipment, understanding of electronic circuit designs to implement design changes/modifications, upkeep of reference systems and resolve obsolescence issues.

Activities and Tasks:

*Involvement with low/medium complexity projects to understand their operation and to implement design changes/modifications.
*Investigation of faults and fault finding.
*Integration of electronic products
*Provide technical advice via e-mail/telephone.
*Writing of technical reports, specifications and test procedures.
*To represent the Company in meetings (Internal and External) and to provide minutes as appropriate.
*May need to attend Operational Defects(OPDEFs).
*Management of reference systems.
*Provision of practical engineering support to other activities within the business

Skills, knowledge and experience required:

Sound electrical and electronic knowledge of analogue, digital and electro-mechanical systems. In addition combat management/data distribution system knowledge.
Experience in electrical systems integration within the Naval Defence electronics/electrical industry.
Experience in fault rectification/finding within Systems to component level.
Experience of planning own work and working with limited supervision.
Experience in supporting equipment both onsite and at Customer's premises.
Involvement in testing activities for new equipment from the Systems Engineering Team and the ability to learn quickly the product.
Capable of producing good comprehensive technical reports using MS Word and MS Excel.
Able to diagnose and correct electrical and electronic faults.
Ability to work alongside Customers and communicate back to the project.
Must be able to work as a member of a multi-discipline engineering team.

Other requirements:

- The role will require some manual handling/lifting, working at height and work in hot/cold conditions.
- Willing to work overtime/unsociable hours if required, and to travel (fly and/or drive) to Customer sites in the UK and overseas as required.
- Ideally hold a full driving licence.
