Electronics Engineer

Leader in defence, security, transport and energy, our client is looking for an Electronics Engineer to join their Nuclear division in Dorset.

The Electronics Engineer will be one of a team of engineers providing Ageing and Obsolescence services in support of equipment deployed on existing UK Nuclear Power Plants. The engineer will be responsible for the analysis of customer's current obsolescent I&C equipment and proposing carefully considered actions to enable the equipment to continue to safely and reliably operate for the life of the plant. The engineer will be presenting their analysis and recommendations in technical reports deliverable to the customer. The work on documentation is a major part of the position. The engineer will be responsible for helping the team implement the solutions.

Task
*The analysis of specific aspects of existing equipment to establish recommendations for circuit changes, replacement components and refurbishment to extend the life of the equipment
*Produce technical reports deliverable to the customer clearly identifying the preferred course of action and justifying the changes supported by analysis and simulation.

Skills required
*Able to demonstrate skill and experience in a specific area relating to electronic equipment design or component obsolescence management, preferably in a regulated industry
*Demonstrable ability in analogue and digital electronics design using conventional logic families
*Ability to communicate effectively within peer group and with manager/team leader
*Produce consistent and accurate technical reports, requirement specifications and circuit diagrams, as required to meet the specific needs of the deployed equipment
* Delivering engineering tasks to the right quality on time

Qualifications
*Appropriate technical qualifications in specific areas of electronic design or in instrumentation and control

Supervision
*The role will be supervised by the Team Leader. The electronics engineer will be expected to be able to carry out defined tasks on his/her own initiative and with minimal supervision
