Electronics Design Engineer

New and interesting contract opportunities have arisen with one of our defence clients based in the West Midlands, where the successful candidates would be joining a market leader in providing reliable and effective solutions to combat the latest terrorism threats.

My client is now recruiting 2 contract Electronic Design Engineers to work on an existing programme at their main site. A potential long term role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing obsolete equipment and producing design solutions to replace a main control unit. This will include development through design, prototyping, and performance validation testing of PCB assemblies for applications ranging from DC drives to RF comms interfaces, including audio and video transmission.

Essential Skills:
*Experience in reverse engineering and addressing obsolescence
*Circuit Schematic and PCB design and fault finding
*Microcontroller based board level design
*High speed signal design and signal Integrit
*Differential Audio and Video design
*Motors, Actuators, solenoid drive circuitry design
*DC Power supply design (including filters)
*Designing for EMC and Safety
*Thermal issues on a compact design
*Cables and connector interfaces including Ethernet, RS485, RS422, RS232, Audio, Video, RF, Motors, Actuators and solenoids
*Experience of design tools such as Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics Expedition Enterprise

Desirable skills:
*Design for production and design for assembly experience
*Experience of Visio Drawing
*Experience of DOORS requirement capture tool

Additional requirements
The successful candidate will need to have recently worked in a defence environment and be eligible for UK MOD security clearance.
