Duties & Responsibilities

In conjunction with Depth maintenance Chief, act as a systems engineering expert for JEWCS assets to provide continuity in the Technical Branch.

Act as deputy to the Depth Maintenance Chief.

Works with the EW Software Technician to develop and improve control software and settings for JEWCS assets.

Identifies appropriate software solutions and configuration for JEWCS assets.

Act as the technical analyst for results achieved and produces recommendations to improve performance.

Carries out technical training for JEWCS EW technicians and familiarisation training for operators.

Raise and staff JEWCS Purchase Requested to support and expedite Depth engineering activities.

Work with contractors and potential contractors to improve system knowledge, equipment capabilities, potential improvements, repair policies, spares and replacement equipment sources.

In conjunction with Depth Maintenance Chief, work in liaison with contractors and potential contractors to improve system knowledge, equipment capabilities, potential improvements, repair policies and spares resources.

Have a close working relationship with the Forward Maintenance Supervisor providing with technical advice and carrying out research with contractors and other information sources where such information is not available internally.

Undertake duties as tasked by Depth Maintenance Chief in the execution of Depth Tasks.

Comply with all JEWCS Configuration, Change and Quality Management procedure and systems when undertaking Depth activities.

Assist in the development and production of engineering and technical processes, procedures and publications to support JEWCS assets.

Assist with Project Management activities in support of tasks for equipment upgrade and overhaul projects as directed by Depth Maintenance Chief.

Carries out additional duties as directed by the JEWCS Engineering Officer.

The incumbent will be required to perform such other related duties as may be directed by the Director NATO JEWCS.

The incumbent may be required to undertake operational deployments and/or TDY assignments both within and without NATO`s boundaries.

Normally an office environment but in undertaking his duties may be required to visit deployed NATO JEWCS assets for exercises and evaluation. Also hangar and workshop environment in carrying out his managerial functions.

Must be able to liaise effectively, both internally and externally, with military and civilian personnel. Extensive liaison with research and development agencies and civilian contractors in the EW field.

Successful management of the Technical Support Brand is fundamental to NATO JEWCS meeting performance standards during exercises and evaluations.

Skills & Attributes


Recent experience of maintaining electronic systems and practical use of software control.

Experience in the microwave and communications field.


HND, HNC or level 4 NVQ or equivalent in relevant discipline.

HND, HNC or level 4 NVQ or equivalent in Electronics.

Working at Heights.

Working in Confined Spaces.




Knowledge and experience of current IT hardware and software developments.

Knowledge and experience of software engineering and principles.

EW systems and application, software and hardware requirements analysis configuration control, software maintenance.

Maintenance and military flight line operations of avionic systems.


Degree in Systems and/or Electronic Engineering
