Electronic Design Engineer

My client is a leading, independently owned company who designs and manufactures quality fire alarm devices and accessories.

The company is now looking for a Contract Electronics Design Engineer to assist with the current R&D projects and to primarily work on new product development. The small R&D team is committed to producing a high quality output, working to a tight schedule, reporting directly to the Design Manager under the direct supervision of the Technical and Operations Director. Work is carried out in line with the company standard procedures to ISO9001, ensuring that its products are developed to the market requirements.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Detailed design work, which will usually consist of designing or having a significant input into new product designs, as well as improvements to existing products
Electronic design - creation of schematics, samples and testing according to design specifications and British/International standards
CAD software - responsible for projects and tasks requiring the use of PCB design software, where applicable
Embedded software development as part of the product design
Specific customer design support
Technical support, as required
To ensure projects come in on time and products are designed to be cost-effective in manufacturing

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To assist in maintaining good communications between relevant departments and adhering to the spirit of teamwork with the Directors, Managers and all staff
To contribute in any way to the most cost-effective way in which the company operates
Ensure work is carried out in line with company standard procedures, including ISO9001
Each member of staff should take responsibility for health and safety issues
