Electrical Project Engineer (Renewables)

Electrical Project Engineer is needed for a contract positon in the renewable energy sector focusing on tidal energy.

You will join an existing operations team and be responsible for electrically biased work packages from initial design, through to commissioning and post-installation support.

Experience in electrical engineering and offshore project work is needed, and you should be competent and committed to successful project delivery. Candidates should also be able to communicate effectively with the project team and be able to provide hands-on and support work.

Electrical Engineer duties will include:

- Procure, install and commission the electrical systems and components required for power generation of individual turbines & tidal arrays.
- Interprets specifications, drawings, standards and regulations relating to the power conditioning equipment for conversion of the turbines output to grid compliant AC Electricity.
- To provide ongoing electrical engineering support to Engineering teams.
- Testing the power generator to ensure successful transmission and distribution of electricity to the national grid.
- Participates in the installation schedules for equipment, switchgear, cables and fittings for the deployment of the turbine array and subsequent connection to the national grid.
- Prepare budget & timing estimates along with accurate & timely reporting.
- Procurement of electrical components in line with the budget, schedule and quality requirements.
- Completion of project plans, method statementsopportunity & issues identification throughout the project life cycle.
- Ensure that all Health and Safety procedures are followed in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure that all works are performed as defined within the client's Quality Management System.

Project Engineer required skills:

- 3 to 5 years' experience working within a related offshore engineering industry.
- Experience of power generation and distribution networks with particular expertise in system commissioning.
- Experience of offshore/subsea electrical equipment selection.
- Experience in the design, installation & commissioning of bespoke electrical panels & PLC systems.
- Experience with power conversion, conditioning and grid compliant systems is desirable.
- Experience of managing a diverse team of contractors in the delivery of specific projects.
- Strong interpersonal, technical and commercial skills, with strong customer focus and commitment to quality.
- Ability to undertake frequent international travel to deployment locations at client sites
- Demonstrated pro-active, practical & flexible approach to work.
