Electrical Power Field/Reliability Engineer

Yoh has a contract to hire opportunity for a ELECTRICAL POWER FIELD/RELIABILITY ENGINEER to join our client in Berkeley, CA.

Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure reliable performance and operation of the site electrical distribution system by establishing/coordinating preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Operate high voltage and back-up power systems as required for utility interruptions, maintenance, and shutdowns.
- Respond to unplanned and emergency utility outages as required to support consistent operation of the plant and to minimize impact of utility interruptions.
- Execute electrical system upgrades and projects. Coordinate electrical system and equipment maintenance.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures immediately and communicate status to engineers and production.
- Train and ensure qualification of electrical maintenance personnel and engineers
- Support and prioritize many diverse activities simultaneously while meeting schedule commitments. Have flexibility to participate in rotational on-call support and/or weekend coverage on occasion.

Job Qualifications:
- BS EE preferred (or Elec Technology).
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in industrial plant power distribution systems, both low and medium voltage.
- Experience related to the engineering and design of utility transmission and distributions substations to 12.4 kV; experience in a GMP/GLP environment preferred.
- Familiar with: electrical codes and standards including NEC, IEC and IEEE; electrical safety practices and procedures including NFPA70E and OSHA regulations; electrical drawings including one and three-line diagrams, electrical schematics, electrical wiring diagrams and P low and medium voltage motor control systems, including solid state systems; industrial control and protection schemes as they apply to electrical distribution systems, motor controls and electrical systems; principles of operation and standard electrical maintenance practices as related to electrical switchgear, generators, transformers and power distribution equipment; majority or motors and emergency standby generators, uninterruptable power supplies, motor controls, generator controls, transformers and related protective relays; materials, components and equipment used in all aspects of electrical installations; alternative energy systems, energy conservation methods and smart energy management is preferred.
- SAP experience helpful; proficient computer skills (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
- Possess strong planning/organizational skills; good oral and written communication skills.
