Outsource UK Ltd is actively seeking to recruit a number of physical/non functional design engineers for contract role on behalf of a client.

A leading Engineering and Defence organisation

The Job:
The role of Physical/non functional design engineers is to perform electrical and physical installation design and qualification testing activities for the Combat System (CS) to be installed on UK Submarines.

This will include:
Definition and development of physical design concepts and solutions for the CS.
Generation of technical requirements, installation drawings, and equipment specifications to enable procurement from sub-contractor suppliers.
Liaison with CS Design Team Leaders/Members, Technical Authorities, MoD customers, Shipbuilder and Suppliers to agree electrical and physical solutions, coherent with the Combat System Design.
Preparation for & presentation at CS Design Reviews.
Assessment of requirements compliance and evidence read across from Legacy equipment fits.
Proposal and implementation of equipment test and qualification methods.
Generation of Installation Guidance for the CS to enable equipment installation.
The Physical/Non Functional Design Engineers role is to support the shipbuilder for CS physical design and installation issues

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Engineering or an appropriate related discipline.
Practical hands on experience of electrical and/or physical installation design and implementation on military or maritime platforms.
Self motivation, enthusiasm for problem solving and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Electrical and/or physical installation design experience on military of maritime platforms
Experience of definition of technical requirements
Experience of liaison with customers and suppliers
Understanding of requirements management and acceptance
Knowledge of the techniques of systems engineering
Desirable knowledge of the techniques of systems engineering
Desirable knowledge of cabling design and installation standards for maritime platforms
