Our client, a leading nuclear company, is urgently seeking an Electrical Engineer. This is an initial 4-6 month contract opportunity with possible extension, to be based in Gloucester.

The key purpose of the role is to provide support to the Head of Electrical Engineering in the provision of expert engineering services to the company with responsibility for all technological aspects of the nuclear new build electrical design. The post holder will carry out a range of electrical engineering assessments and reviews in support of the design of the company's site.

Responsibilities:

Support the Head of Electrical Engineering on a range of issues

Work with suppliers and the regulators to ensure licensing and permitting requirements are met.

Review documents supplied by suppliers.

Provide support to process to ensure the UK adaptation requirements are met.

Provide support to the licensing and permitting process for the company's new builds.

Provide support to the Site Development Directorate in relation to works at site.

Assist in the development of local procedures and working arrangements for the electrical engineering discipline.

Skills Set:

A relevant engineering qualification, chartered engineer status and knowledge and understanding across a broad range of nuclear power plant engineering issues.

Previous experience in the design/layout and maintenance of nuclear/conventional systems and components including balance of plant.

Previous experience within the sector and knowledge of international nuclear/conventional power plant codes and standards. Specifically to have experience of demonstrating compliance to the UK Grid Code.

Demonstrable knowledge and understanding across a broad range of power plant electrical engineering issues.

Experience in complex engineering and design projects.

Project management and the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

Able to provide guidance and support to other members of the team.

Prepare a list of all applicable IEC standards and to identify gaps which require inclusion of other standards eg IEEE

To prepare draft guidance for specification of Class 1 2 & 3 electrical equipment

Undertake a battery selection study

To carry out document review/synopsis of company FEED contract submissions.

Attendance at meetings to review documents and discuss

The successful candidate must be willing to undergo BPSS Clearance prior to commencement.
