Electrical/Electronics Power Engineer

Eingestellt von Modis

Gesuchte Skills: Engineering, Engineer, Design

Projektbeschreibung

My client is a small but rapidly growing company with the ambitious objectives of faster, smaller, cheaper Fusion energy. They address the highest technical challenges by creating proof of principle machines of surprising performance. They are now looking for a Electrical/Electronic Power Engineer for a 6 month rolling contract.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, the Electrical Power Engineer will be a key member of the Energy's engineering team - responsible for detailed design, specification and procurement of key electrical systems for the company's projects. He/she will work closely with the scientific team, to produce the electrical systems, components, equipment and importantly, power supplies to drive compact tokamaks.

In addition, an important aspect of this position will be to act in a hands-on capacity to perform the more complex testing and set-up work.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

* Design and develop electrical systems and power supplies for the Company's step-wise proof-of-principle machines in line with IEE/IET codes and standards.

* Provide robust, reliable and cost-effective electrical engineering solutions.

* Ensure electrical safety compliance in complex scientific, high component density areas.

* Establish dedicated electrical engineering facilities within the Engineering Centre and instigate appropriate systems of control.

* Review electrical design of the Company's existing machines to optimise performance.

* Take personal charge of the more complex electrical installation work and perform system and component tests.

* Be hands on in the engineering centre, providing whatever help is required.

Qualifications, Attributes and Experience required:

* Chartered electrical engineer or equivalent.

* Detailed technical knowledge of high energy pulsed power supplies in the 1-5 KV/100MW range. Familiarity with ultracapacitor based systems would be advantageous.

* Experience gained in a high technology systems environment from within (eg.) Electric vehicles/transportation/electricity utility/scientific research disciplines.

* Experience of working in multi-disciplinary groups.

* Strong project management skills, use and understanding of Microsoft Project or similar management/scheduling tools.

* Ability to present clear and unambiguous reports to back-up high value purchasing decisions.

* A proactive, enthusiastic team player, happy to be involved in 'whatever it takes' in a high growth phase company.
