Electrical Designer

ELECTRICL DESIGNER contract opportunity for a highly regarded firm in Houston, TX. Need working knowledge of AutoCAD for electro-mechanical device applications. Must have experience with motor controls. Growth opportunity. Local candidates. Projected 1+ year or longer term Contract assignment. (Some potential Temp-to-Perm for very solid candidate depending on growth of business.)

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design electrical control systems for industrial motor control equipment from customer specifications in accordance with applicable codes and standards
- Design wiring diagrams, layouts, bill of materials and other drawings as necessary for assembly and wiring of low voltage control equipment
- Design drawings for systems based on written or verbal descriptions from customers or quotations
- Consult with customers, sales and department supervisor to resolve discrepancies in function of equipment requirements and to verify completeness and accuracy of design
- Provide technical information concerning product application, wiring, troubleshooting and other related issues to customers and departments within the organization
- Develop and implement processes that will improve productivity and reduce costs in the overall manufacturing process and assist production department with implementation of new processes and quality assurance procedures

REQUIREMENTS

- AS Degree OR equivalent combination of education with a degree or certificate from a recognized CAD training facility, A PLUS to have Bachelor of Science (BS) degree
- Minimum 2 to 5+ years related work experience
- Proficient in CAD for similar applications
- Must have experience in the motor control industry
- Must be able to interpret documents such as electrical schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Must be able to read, interpret, and use NEC, UL, CSA, standards and customer-supplied documentation
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
