OUR CLIENT IS BALFOUR BEATTY, THE GLOBAL CONSTRUCTION, INFRASTRUCTURE AND UTILITIES BUSINESS AND WE ARE RECRUITING FOR AN INTERIM ELECTRICAL COMMISSIONING ENGINEER.

ROLE PURPOSE:

To manage and supervise the day to day installation electrical works on water and wastewater projects, ensuring safe working practices, quality of workmanship, site co-ordination and customer satisfaction. Undertake the commissioning and hand-over of projects to the clients requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

To ensure that all works associated with the Electrical installation and the commissioning of wastewater and clean water projects is completed in accordance with client expectations and to time, cost, quality, and health and safety standards.

- Promote and encourage a culture that aligns with and actively supports the BBUS company values.
- Understand the importance of corporate governance and ensure consistent measures and standards are applied.
- Support all contract initiatives within the Network Construction Alliance to achieve business plan goals and objectives
- Promote and support company initiatives through the construction, commissioning and handover process
- Support the development of the Mechanical and Electrical design, construction and commissioning team in accordance with NCA and company priorities
- Review and implement, existing and new procedures to underpin governance and quality performance
- Support the wider NCA project delivery teams in the construction and commissioning of projects and gaining project handover

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Sub-contractor supervision
- Review and approval of sub-contractor risk assessments and method statements
- Issuing and controlling permits to work, electrical permitting systems, etc.
- Liaison with civil site management and construction teams
- Production of look-ahead Programmes and the planning of works
- To ensure that the projects are installed and commissioned in accordance with the Specification and Commissioning plan, and in-line with Client procedures
- Development and production of the commissioning plan
- To undertake the commissioning activities associated with a project
- To input into the development of Company Engineering processes and standards and provision of project specific commissioning expertise.
- To ensure that all activities undertaken and engineering outputs provided are in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation and Accepted Practice.
- To ensure that all installations are installed and commissioned in accordance with NCA procedures, and information is retained and passed on for inclusion in the O&M Manuals and the H&S File

SKILLS REQUIRED:

ESSENTIAL:

- Experience of electrical design, construction and commissioning activities within the Water Industry - experience of commissioning projects for United Utilities would be advantageous although not essential.
- Must have a good all round mechanical and electrical knowledge/background, and a proven track record in site supervision
- Recognised engineering qualification
- Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSTMS) certified or equivalent
- IOSH, NEBOSH or similar
- CSCS
- CDM

DESIRABLE:

- Full driving licence
- Familiarity with United Utilities Asset Standards and Commissioning Processes.
- DSEAR ATEX Regulations (COMPEX Trained)
- 17th Edition (BS7671) Qualified.
- Familiarity with Profibus network installations
- MCC design and manufacture experience
- Instrumentation commissioning
- Familiarity of Siemens PLC's/HMI's
- SAT's (Site Acceptance Testing) experience
- Operator Training experience
