Ecologist (Contract Summer work)

We are looking for an Ecologist to join our highly regarded and expanding ecology team for ad hoc Summer work in our offices are located just off the A470, 2 miles north of the M4.

The Role

Reporting to Team Leader

The successful applicant will be responsible for undertaking habitat and species surveys, producing survey reports, designing appropriate mitigation and assisting in the general workload and project delivery of the ecology team.
The successful applicant will also assist with the design and planning of surveys and the preparation of EPS development licenses.
Ability to work in a team environment as part of a multidisciplinary organisation.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Responsible for more junior staff, temporary and seconded staff within the team.
Willing to work unsociable hours.

Key Responsibilities:

Your key responsibilities could include but will not be limited to:

Undertake a variety of ecological surveys and produce associated reports.
Assist with survey and mitigation planning and design.
Preparation of/input into EPS development licences.
Assist with other duties as necessary.

Essential Experience/Skills:

You will be expected to :

An Honours degree in Ecology or related subject, with a minimum of 2 years experience (preferably within a consultancy environment). Competent in undertaking Phase 1 Habitat Surveys and producing ecological survey reports.
Have good written communication and IT skills.
Flexible approach with a willingness to carry out surveys during unsociable and irregular hours and at times away from the office base.
Full driving licence.

Desired Experience/Skills:

Ideally you will have:
Highly Desirable
Hold/close to obtaining one or more protected species survey licences (CCW or Natural England).
Good written communication and IT skills
Working knowledge of environmental legislation

Desirable
Working knowledge of mitigation principles and the planning system as it affects ecological issues.
Be an Associate Membership of IEEM (or immediately eligible for Associate status).
Have capability in GIS.
