DV Packaging Engineer - Hampshire

Currently seeking a DV cleared Packaging Engineer, to be based on site in Hampshire on a 3 month contract to be confirmed by the client.

Due to the nature of the role and the time scale and requirements issued by the client, candidates have been asked to hold current DV (Developed Vetting) level security clearance, for this role.

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The DII project is contracted to supply both hardware and software infrastructure solutions to support the MoD transition to a common base solution, based on Windows 2008 server and Vista Workstation products, whilst ensuring on going connection and support to Legacy systems and the ultimate transfer of such into the DII solution. This is a multi-phased operation involving the development of many new solutions and the re-implementation of existing products in the DII environment.

- Provides every user with a Quality of Service that is appropriate to that user's operational or business requirements.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Working within the Integration and Packaging team. The Packagers create and maintain the packages which automatically distribute the software to the Servers and clients within the DII infrastructure. 

Specific responsibilities include:

- Undertaking solution packaging and documentation activity at the system and major component level;
- Conducting technical reviews of the solution as it is progressed during this period;
- Producing all Engineering documents;
- Developing solution for progression to test;
- Reviewing the inputs to the packaging process.
- Creating Windows Installer MSI packages.
- Performing a Sanctuary scan of the MSI package.
- Performing conflict analysis on the MSI package.
- Unit testing the Windows Installer and MSI packages.
- Creating the necessary documentation.
- Storing the outputs in the DII Configuration Management system
- Investigating and resolving defects in previously created packages.
- Adhering to the appropriate DII standards and procedures.
- Conducting peer reviews for other packagers.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Essential:

- Familiarity MOD and Government security standards;
- Current DV clearance;
- Packaging experience on a secure system development project;
- Experience of HP Radia;
- Experience of VMWare;
- Creating Radia deployment packages.

Desirable:

- DII experience
