Duty Worker - Cumbria

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Duty Worker to work in conjunction with an NHS CMHT in Cumbria. The post is full time Monday to Friday (37.5 hours) for an initial duration of 3 months with view to extend. The position is Band 6 paying 25-28ph (Limited Company) depending on experience. The service is looking for someone to start immediately.

The position is primarily a telephone based support service with occasional face-to-face assessments. The service is available to help when services users' mental or emotional state gets worse quickly (mental health crisis). When a patient feels unsafe, at risk or unable to cope without professional advice and help and cannot get the support they need from their usual avenues, they will have the opportunity to speak to a duty worker.

Responsibilities:

*Risk assessments and urgent assessments
*Provide support and advice
*Signposting - ability to work effectively as part of a MDT (Multi-Disciplinary Team) and liaise with other healthcare professionals
*Duty worker will work with the caller/patient to enable them to manage their problems without having to access other services.
*Aim to help people cope better by helping them with key aspects of their care plans, managing their immediate symptoms and problems and work through very immediate issues in their lives which they may be struggling to deal with at the time they call

Person Specification:

*Must be a qualified Social Worker or RMN who are registered with the NMC/HCPC
*Must have a minimum 6 months working in a mental health setting such as CMHT, Assertive Outreach, Early Intervention, Crisis Resolution, Primary Care etc.
