Dutch Speaking Database Administrator

Proteus Europe is searching for a Dutch speaking Database Administrator to join a prestigious client based in Brussels, Belgium. This is a contract position with a duration of 6 months.

Our Client:-
The Ministry of the Flemish Community (MVG) was from January 1, 1983 to January 1, 2006 the official organization of the Government of Flanders, where the Flemish Government policy is implemented. The ministry was divided into departments were headed by a Secretary-General. The departments knew another subdivision in administrations. The administrations were led by a Director General.

Your New role:-

Department of Environment, Nature and Energy

The Department of Environment, Nature and Energy (DLNE) is responsible for an integral and integrated environmental policy in Flanders. It is therefore a broad entity that is active in many environmental areas. Policy planning and coordination, licensing, enforcement, scientific research, consultation, sensitization and education are some of the key words that come to the fore in the operation. The department consists of a co-ordinating secretariat and twelve departments that each individually apply for a specific aspect of the environmental and nature issues.

You will go to the Central Data Management (ACD) department of the LNE department. This department is responsible for the internal ICT services to the other departments of the department and through the MMIS project also to the other entities of the policy area. ACD is a young and small dynamic department in full expansion. In addition to 20 internal persons, 20 external employees are permanently employed. This mainly for the development of new applications and the maintenance of existing applications.

Your new role:
- Higher education (Master or Bachelor) with technical/engineering or business economics background or equivalent through experience.
- Experience with project-oriented work and database modelling or a demonstrable training in the DBMS environment in question
- Experience in DBMS environment in question

However, your work will consist of the combination of 30% postgres DBA work and 70% linux and unix sysadmin work.

You are responsible for:
- Optimizing the databases
- The development and maintenance of the databases
- Analyzing and solving problems in the databases
- You get System Engineering tasks such as setting up and managing Linux Servers, providing 2nd line support, maintenance of the IT infrastructure
- You work together with and receive support from a team of different IT professionals, each with their own specific expertise.
- You contribute to the development and automation of the hosting environment (ansible, rundeck)
- You work with the day-to-day operational management of the existing environment for already focusing on support deployment and setup of web-based web applications.

Technical knowledge

- Thorough knowledge of at least one of the DB systems used (Informix, MySQL and Postgresql). And basic knowledge of one or more other DBMS.
- Knowledge of drawing, developing and implementing a database environment; knowledge of DDL and DML.
- Good knowledge and experience with the administration and management tools belonging to the DBMS.
- Strong experience with postgres and postgis DBA management
- Senior unix/linux management. Ubuntu and Solaris are the platforms par excellence that we work with.
- Knowledge of Ansible, kvm, Ceph, OpenNebula, Rundeck, iptables, Bareos, Barman are a strong plus.
- Experience in automation projects and continuos delivery is a strong plus.
- Experience with mail infrastructure management, DNS, ldap (opendj), ... are a strong plus
- You are at home in the world of open-source software and attaches importance to the use of open standards

- Demonstrable experience with Ubuntu and Solaris
- Demonstrable experience of backup environment
- Perfect knowledge of Dutch

Desirable Skills:- Plus skills:

- Demonstrable experience with KVM
- Demonstrable experience with Ceph
- Demonstrable experience with OpenNebula
- Proven experience with Rundeck
- Demonstrable experience with iptables
- Proven experience with Bareos is a plus
- Demonstrable experience with Barman is a plus
