My client, a leading automotive manufacturer based in Gaydon, Warwickshire, is looking to recruit a Driver Assistance Systems Engineer for their Electrical Engineering division on a long term contract basis.

Position:Driver Assistance Systems Engineer

Position Description:
DAS Software Systems Engineer This role is for an experienced and highly motivated systems engineer to work in the in-house controls and software development team with responsibility for the design, development and delivery of in-house control software, for future Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) features. Manage software requirements, issues, change requests and validation. Liaise with controls and software engineers, subsystem owners, and validation teams to ensure robust delivery of the software and system. Work with software module leader/project planner to track and report project status. Manage calibration data and concur calibration changes. Develop and execute robust test plan for software and subsystem validation, including SIL and MIL testing, and support for the HIL team. Develop and maintain software documentation including specifications, signoff reports, manufacturing and service documentation. Support software quality deliverables and reviews including ASPICE, and kead software issue investigations including manufacturing and warranty support where required

Experience Required:
Software requirements and change management tools, and associated tools (eg IBM Rational DOORS, RTC, PTC Integrity, or similar). Thorough understanding of system engineering principles and the software development life cycle Knowledge vehicle electrical architectures and protocols including CAN bus, Flexray, automotive diagnostics and related system development tools (CANalyzer, CANape, diagnostics tools etc.).

Education Required:
Highly motivated and self-starting individual with effective leadership skills. Strong organisational, project management and communication skills essential. Thorough understanding of system engineering principles and the software development life cycle. Software requirements authoring and decomposition to software units, and requirements and change management tools (eg IBM Rational DOORS, RTC or similar). Development and execution of robust test plan, including validation techniques such as HIL and test automation. Knowledge vehicle electrical architectures and protocols including CAN bus, Flexray, automotive diagnostics and related system development tools (CANalyzer, CANape, diagnostics tools etc.). Previous experience of automotive software delivery. ADAS experience preferred but strong candidates from other backgrounds will also be considered. Degree in Electronics, Software, Automotive/Aerospace engineering or similar subject, or equivalent industry experience.. Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). Full UK driving license. Must be eligible to work within the UK without sponsorship.

Education Preferred:
Use of SysML, ideally for software design and architecture . Knowledge of dSpace HIL equipment and test automation. Knowledge of fault detection and fault handling techniques. Experience of issue investigations including appropriate problem solving and reporting tools (5D, Is/Is Not, Fault Tree etc), as well as quality and robustness tools (FMEA, FTA, P-Diagrams, Noise Factor Analysis etc). Vehicle validation in a proving ground environment. Experience working with offshore software development teams and/or 3rd party ECU suppliers. Understanding of safety critical systems including related standards such as ISO26262/IEC61508 or similar. Software documentation and associated quality processes eg SPICE. Previous experience of working within a cross functional team, including supporting a manufacturing environment.

Primarily located at Gaydon. Occasional travel to other sites may be required including overseas and test trips. Safety footwear will be required if supporting workshop/manufacturing activities.
