My client, a major operator, is currently searching for experienced Drilling/Wells Engineers to work on a contract basis in their Houston office located along the Energy Corridor.

The role will be responsible for OBO (Operations By Others) activities in the Western Hemisphere across all three divisions - Exploration, Development and Production. The individual will work closely with the Regional Subsurface personnel, Project GMs, Production OBO personnel, Regional Teams, and external Operator / Co-owner engineers. These interactions will be focused on reducing risk, adding value to the project, protecting the client's interests and capturing learning from these external projects to bring back to the client. The ability to build relationships and influence the Operator and fellow Co-owners are key. Lastly, this individual needs to be proactive in this new role for the client and pursue ways to add value through their OBO operations.

Key Roles and Responsibilities Include:

* Represent the client at Operator and/or co-owner meetings and seek constructive alignment while protecting the client's interests. Internally, represent the department at Technical Meeting, Independent Stage Gate Reviews and other verification activities.
* Focus on higher order impacts of OBO:
? Risk reduction - operator capability, well complexity, well integrity
? Value enhancement - right concept, right decision at right time
? Learning Capture - capture and communicate OBO failures and successes
* Identify when practices of Operators are significantly different from the client and assess related risk
* Participate in co-owner department meetings and workshops.
* Monitor well progress; attend technical operator meetings (design reviews, pre-spud meetings etc.).
* Delivers FM supplements and weekly reports. Estimates AUAP from benchmarking analysis.

? transfer of learnings - in both directions - between the client and co-owners
? benchmarking of performance and cost estimates, AFEs, supplements
? networking into the department's disciplines review of well AFEs and designs

-Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably chemical, petroleum or mechanical.
-+10 years industry experience
- Operations experience - solid understanding of the fundamentals of well engineering
- Experience with drilling and/or completion design, engineering and planning.
- Offshore and deepwater experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a large operation with multiple discipline teams.
- People skills to build relationships with peers and management both external and internal to the client.
- The ability to work as part of a large team
- Willingness to listen to and implement others' solutions
- The ability to work across traditional discipline and cultural boundaries of different companies and countries.
- The ability to adjust management style dependent on the situation
- Understanding of team dynamics and the different roles within a team.
- Awareness of non-technical under currents and issues.

Persuasive and able to broach difficult topics purposely and tactfully

Good business judgment beyond the "nuts and bolts" of engineering -More a generalist than a specialist

Good communication skills - able to summarize and succinctly present to management
Able to screen and high grade activities for value focus (able to identify opportunity from a large amount of information
