Drafter

DRAFTER/DESIGNER contract opportunity for a highly regarded firm in Houston, TX. Need working knowledge of AutoCAD preferably for electro-mechanical device applications. Growth opportunity. Projected 1+ year or longer term Contract assignment. (Some potential Temp-to-Perm for very solid candidate depending on growth of business.) Local candidates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prepare designs, drawing and estimates of electro-mechanical devices from customer specifications, sketches, diagrams or schematics as directed under general supervision
- Using AutoCAD, prepare production drawings, customer approval drawings, identify component parts for assemblies, prepare bill of materials, and engineering change orders
- Interface with customers and production department during product development from assembly through final inspection
- Review designs for conformity to industrial standards and maintains product drawing files according to ISO procedures and standards

REQUIREMENTS

- Associate's degree OR equivalent trade school diploma
- Formal CAD training OR 2 years of experience using AutoCAD with a solid understanding of drafting techniques and principles, familiarity with engineering terminology, attention to detail and documentation
- A BIG PLUS to have an understanding of basic electrical theory from course schooling OR some experience as an electrician or wiring experience
- Aptitude toward mechanical and electrical equipment controls and enclosure design and working literacy of computers Microsoft Office software
- A PLUS to have familiarity with (a) industry standards such as UL, CSA and NEC or (b) production methods, good working knowledge of industrial tools and mechanical assemblies
- A PLUS to have hands-on experience in a panel shop or in the electrical trade
- A PLUS to have Electro-Mechanical design/ layout experience
- Good Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
